If you are sourcing jute from Bangladesh for the first time, the same questions tend to come up. We have gathered the most common ones here. For a deeper walk-through, start with the complete import guide, and see our FAQ page for more.

Products and specifications

What jute products can I import?

The main categories are jute yarn, hessian/burlap fabric, jute rope and twine, raw jute fiber and finished bags and sacks. Custom products are widely available.

Can products be made to my specification?

Yes. Custom counts, plies, twists, fabric weights, dimensions, printing and branding are all standard for bulk orders. Send a technical spec sheet when you enquire. Our guide to yarn types and grades explains the variables.

Pricing and orders

What is the minimum order quantity?

MOQ varies by product, and good manufacturers work with buyers of many sizes. Share your requirement and you will get pricing accordingly.

How are prices quoted?

Quotes are typically on FOB, CFR or CIF terms. Specify your preferred Incoterm and destination port when requesting a quote so the price is directly comparable.

What payment terms are common?

Telegraphic transfer (T/T) and letter of credit (L/C) are standard, agreed per buyer based on order size and relationship.

Shipping and delivery

Which ports does jute ship from, and how long does it take?

Mainly Chittagong, with Mongla as a secondary option. Transit times run from roughly 10–15 days to China up to 20–30 days to Northern Europe — see shipping jute from Bangladesh for detail.

What about customs and duties?

Clearance at destination is normally the buyer's responsibility under FOB/CIF, but a complete document set makes it straightforward. European buyers should check Bangladesh's current preferential-tariff status.

Quality and trust

How do I know the quality will be consistent?

Choose a genuine manufacturer with multi-stage quality control, insist on samples, and check references — our evaluation guide walks through it. The sample you approve becomes the standard for your order.

Can I visit or audit the factory?

A reputable manufacturer will welcome factory visits and third-party inspections. We do.
